Kings Game Cover and Conservation Crops

Kings Game Cover and Conservation Crops is a division of Frontier Agriculture

Kings LogoKings provides an extensive range of products and expert advice on game cover and specialist conservation crops throughout the UK and Europe.

Kings has specialised in the production and supply of plant seeds for agriculturalists and horticulturists for over 200 years, and are constantly developing new crops.

In addition Kings offers advice on the Campaign for the Farmed Environment and associated schemes.

Why should farmers support the CFE?

Unless English farmers show they are capable of retaining and improving farmland habitats within the next two years, up to 6% of land in production may be placed in compulsory set-aside.

By getting involved with the CFE growers can avoid this and at the same time realise the environmental potential of the less productive areas of their farmland.

Kings can provide advice and products to help you support the CFE. If you are not in an Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) then you should join the scheme and choose some key 'target' (e.g. Nectar flower or wild bird seed mixture) options.

Retain any former set-aside and put areas outside ELS, such as awkward field corners or unproductive land, into a Campaign voluntary measure.

Do you have game cover crops?

GAmeWhere straight game cover crops such as maize or sorghum are grown look to add to or replace some of the area with a wild bird seed mixture - this will provide a range of valuable seed for farmland birds and will benefit the shoot too.

Additionally consider buffer strips and field corners as a means to aid resource protection and provide general habitats for farmland wildlife.
