Frontier Agriculture is proposing changes to its operations at Diss in response to challenging trading conditions across the arable sector.

The company is consulting with affected colleagues on a proposal to cease seed production at Diss and consolidate this activity elsewhere within its network.

Frontier has also taken the decision not to store grain at Diss for the 2026 harvest following a review of the site's storage infrastructure and wider operations.

Managing director Diana Overton said the proposals have been carefully developed to maintain customer service while aligning the business' operational footprint and cost base with current market conditions.

The changes will not impact or reduce Frontier’s total seed production capacity, as activities will be strategically redistributed across the existing network to create a more efficient operating model.

“We recognise the importance of the East to Frontier and the strength of the relationships our teams have with customers across the region.

“The proposed changes have been carefully developed to avoid any service disruptions to customers, ensuring they continue to receive the quality, continuity of supply and support they expect from Frontier.

“These are difficult but necessary decisions to ensure we can continue to support customers in a complex trading environment. We’re committed to treating everyone affected by these proposals with respect, fairness and compassion as we work through the process.”

The current proposal relates specifically to Frontier’s seed production at Diss, with decisions based on customer needs and operational requirements.
