Frontier sponsors Open Farm Sunday in its 20th year

2026 marks Open Farm Sunday’s 20th anniversary and the 19th year that Frontier has been a headline sponsor of the initiative.

On Sunday 7th June, hundreds of farmers will open their gates to thousands of visitors as part of the UK’s leading on-farm event led by sustainable farming charity LEAF.

Frontier’s continued support highlights the business’ ongoing commitment to champion British farming as part of its Responsible Choice framework, helping to build stronger connections between the industry and the consumers and brands it provides for.

Diana Overton, Frontier’s managing director, explains: “We’re really proud to support Open Farm Sunday. Our long-standing commitment directly aligns with our own ambition to create positive change and engagement in our industry.

“The event offers a really valuable forum for the public to connect with farmers, letting them experience the realities of farming, see where their food comes from and understand the vital work farmers do for nature and our countryside. It’s brilliant to see the campaign reach such an important milestone with its 20th year.”

Today, UK agriculture faces complex challenges from extreme weather events, high input costs, volatile markets, changing policy and new environmental and regulatory compliance. However, it’s also one of the most innovative and evolving industries too, praised for its high standards and with increasing developments in technology, science, research and optimisation. And while building greater resilience into the sector is crucial for long-term food security, many believe it’s just as important to strengthen the public’s understanding of it too.

Diana continues, “As well as bringing people closer to food production, Open Farm Sunday also has the potential to shape new perceptions about how rewarding and exciting it can be to work in agriculture.

“The event has gone from strength-to-strength each year which shows how meaningful it is to both farmers and visitors; there’s so much to learn and be inspired by. We’re always incredibly proud to see so many employees from Frontier volunteer their time to help too.”

Volunteer story: Ana Clifton

Ana Clifton is a farm trader based in Lincolnshire and is just one of the many volunteers from Frontier who lends a helping hand on the day.

Speaking of her involvement, Ana says: “Open Farm Sunday showcases the very best of British agriculture and offers a fantastic opportunity for younger generations to experience things they may never otherwise encounter.

“From learning about the vital role farmers play and the food they produce, to understanding the journey from ‘field to fork’, meeting animals and enjoying tractor rides in the countryside - it’s an event that truly welcomes everyone and leaves a lasting impression.

“I don’t come from an agricultural background myself; I joined Young Farmers at 16 and was inspired to pursue a career in the industry. Now, I’m always keen to champion British agriculture, share my experience and spark that same passion in others. I love working alongside the growers I support to inspire the next generations - they are the future of farming.”

Inspiring greater connections with food and farming

Across two-decades, Open Farm Sunday has so far hosted 3.5 million visitors, held 6,340 events and had participation from more than 2,219 host farms.

In 2025, there were 20% more host farmers welcoming an impressive 200,000 visitors. Following feedback to LEAF, many attendees said they held greater trust in British farming, had a better understanding of the work farmers do with nature, and felt more connected to the people producing their food.

Diana adds, “At a time when our industry is facing some immense pressures, fostering these connections between farmers, producers and consumers, bridging the knowledge gap and building trust feels more important than ever.

“There’s a growing interest from the public in sustainable farming and they are becoming more conscious about their food choices and where it comes from. Open Farm Sunday presents a fantastic opportunity to strengthen this understanding and gives farmers and others working in agriculture the chance to share the pride in what they do.”
