New Frontier app puts harvest results at farmers’ fingertips

app release
In an industry first, Frontier has launched a new grower app that gives farmers direct access to their own business data with Frontier, from their mobile phone or tablet.  At the click of a button, customers can interact 'live' with Frontier's business system to help manage their business. Thousands of growers already use Frontier's online system, 'iTrac' via their computer to manage their business and now they can access the same system via their mobile device.

Frontier farmers can view their planned and actual grain and crop input movements, including grain load quality analysis. They can also view grain sample results as well as invoices from and to Frontier. Frontier expects this to be of particular benefit to farmers this harvest, when gaining easy, quick access to their grain sample or load results, should help ensure they best manage the sale and execution of their grain.

And this is just one of the features of the Frontier App. The app, available on BlackBerry, Apple and Android platforms, will also provide instant access to world grain and currency markets, provide up to date local agronomic weather information, and deliver regular news and advice from Frontier on all areas of arable production.

Alistair Knott, commercial director for Frontier says, "There are already a number of apps available to farmers but ours is quite different in that it allows customers to connect directly with our business system. The wide-ranging and comprehensive nature of the information available will make this an invaluable tool and will help customers better manage their business while on the move. For example, we have all seen the impact of variable grain quality at harvest last year and the challenges it presented to farmers marketing grain. Fingers crossed that harvest 2013 provides better news for us all. However, whatever the results, having quick and easy access to grain load quality information will enable growers to act swiftly to match consumer specifications."

Herefordshire farmer, Will Watkins has been using the Frontier app and says: "The Frontier app basically brings together a lot of things I need to know on a daily basis. It allows me to get it from one place and that place is in my hand at all times. Really it just saves me time and time is valuable."

Frontier will continue to evolve the app in response to feedback from growers by introducing new features and functionality.
