Mapping

Frontier doesn’t only offer agronomic advice; we help growers take control of their land through data-driven insights. Using mapping, monitoring and management tools, we provide a holistic overview of farm businesses to help optimise farm performance, improve sustainability and build long-term resilience. We have simplified our approach and combined our services as part of Frontier Agriculture, adopting the name of the group we’ve been part of for so long. Here you will find information and services previously found under the SOYL brand.

Effective nutrient management is key to building resilient soils, maximising yields and reducing environmental risk. Frontier combines advanced mapping technology with expert agronomic support to help growers make precise, data-driven decisions.
Using GPS-guided soil sampling, we create detailed nutrient maps that highlight variability across fields, ensuring fertiliser and organic inputs are applied where they’re needed most.
Our mapping service also supports regulatory compliance while providing growers with independent analysis of essential soil nutrients, including phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and magnesium (Mg), as well as insight on pH levels, organic matter and trace elements.
With instant results through MyFarm, our free online farm management platform, growers can access tailored fertiliser recommendations based on soil type, cropping and yield targets.

Biomass imagery provides real-time insights into crop performance using satellite-derived normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) images to highlight areas of low and high biomass. By tracking crop health throughout the season, growers can make informed, data-driven decisions to optimise productivity.
Examples of how biomass imagery can be used to support farm businesses include:
  • Applying variable rate plant growth regulators (PGRs) – real-time imagery allows growers to adjust PGR applications based on canopy size, ensuring even crop development and reducing lodging risk
  • Optimising seed rates – past biomass data can be used to finetune seed strategies, increasing rates in historically low-biomass areas and reducing them where lodging has been a prior issue
  • Prioritising fieldwork – imagery can be used to identify priority fields for nitrogen or crop protection applications and track crop health to inform future agronomy decisions
  • Supporting grassland management – livestock farmers can assess grass biomass to guide livestock movements, helping to optimise grazing efficiency
  • Predicting yield and crop performance – effectively using biomass imagery can help growers gain valuable yield insights without the need for expensive yield mapping technology
Biomass imagery of your farm can be easily accessed through Frontier’s free online farm management platform, MyFarm.

With subsidy reform introducing a ‘payments by results’ approach to environmental stewardship, opportunities are emerging for growers. However, planning a scheme for the first time or adjusting existing agri-environment projects can be complex.
To support this transition, Frontier has developed a unique online environment manager tool, designed to integrate environmental management plans with crop production activity.
Developed with input from farming experts, the tool helps farmers, land managers and gamekeepers implement stewardship agreements, conservation projects and sporting activities, while also enabling the recording and monitoring of natural capital assets on-farm.
Available within Frontier’s MyFarm platform, it combines satellite imagery and interactive mapping, bringing together all environmental projects and crop production data in one accessible, easy-to-use system.
Other uses for the tool include:
  • Countryside sports management
  • Yard layout mapping
  • Gateway mapping
  • Overhead powerline mapping
  • Plotting field layouts to manage farm productivity
  • Rotation planning
  • Ensuring location accuracy when recording observations on farm
Speak to our advisors to discover how our environment manager tool can help you integrate environmental management plans with your crop production activity.
