Current positions

Trainee farm trader: You will be a point of contact for Frontier’s farmer customers, developing relationships with them and offering advice on a range of products. 

This includes buying grain, selling seed and fertiliser products and helping our customers to understand and select other appropriate Frontier services to support their business.

Trainee agronomist: You will be responsible for providing growers with technical recommendations tailored to their needs – supporting them at every stage of the crop production process.

As well as offering guidance on agricultural legislation, you will also provide a full field-walking service and deliver solutions in order to achieve optimal yield and quality, while meeting the correct specifications for end markets.

You don’t need to come from an agricultural background or have an agricultural degree – what is more important to us is that you have the right attitude and are committed to developing skills and abilities to deliver results for both our customers and the company.

What to expect during the recruitment process

We split the recruitment process for our trainee programme into different stages. Each is a chance for Frontier to understand ‘what makes you tick’ and for you to get to know more about the business. The stages are:

CV and application form: This first step gives us important information about your experience and helps us understand why you want to work for Frontier.

Online ability tests: We are interested in how you work and your potential to do specific tasks, therefore we ask you to complete three online ability tests. These help us to match the right people to the right jobs by looking at aspects of your ability, such as verbal and numerical reasoning. You can read more about these types of tests here. 

Telephone Interview: This is a 20-30 minute discussion with a member of our recruitment team. It allows us to understand more about why you have applied for the role and what draws you to working for Frontier.

Face-to-face interview: This is the final formal stage of recruitment. It consists of a full day at Frontier where you will take part in a number of different exercises coordinated by our recruitment team. As well as assessment, this is a great opportunity for you to meet some of Frontier’s people and learn a little more about what it’s like to work here. Previous candidates have told us that the day is challenging but very enjoyable and informative.

Day with the team: It’s important that you get know the team you will be joining and therefore, the final part of the process may be to spend some time with the team manager and our employees. This enables you to meet those that you could be working with, familiarise yourself with the structure and get to know the site that you may be based from.
