15th March 2017

Arable Farmer of the Year is a category in the annual Farmers Weekly Awards. The awards, now in their 13th year, celebrate the very best of British farming by recognising and rewarding innovation, hard work and passion for agriculture. Judging takes place over the summer and winners in each category will be announced at a celebration event on Thursday 5th October at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Charlie Whitmarsh, crop production director for Frontier Agriculture, who presented the 2016 Arable Farmer of the Year with his award, said: "We're proud to confirm a third year of support for this award.  I had the privilege of joining the judges when they visited the shortlisted farms last year and presenting the award to the winning grower, Guy Shelby. The standard was high and we're looking forward to seeing this year's shortlist."

There are fifteen Farmers Weekly award categories spanning the full breadth of the farming industry; from contractor to farm adviser; sheep to arable and diversification to dairy.

Direct entries are now open and Farmers Weekly also welcomes third party nominations. The deadline for all entries is 30th April 2017 at midnight. You can keep up with the latest news about the Awards on Twitter by searching #FWAwards.
